PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an isometric crystal evaluation method for easily and precisely detecting an existing area of an isometric crystal in a steel ingot. SOLUTION: A T-direction plane type test piece is collected from the steel ingot to be evaluated, and the test piece is arranged in the water. Subsequently, the T-cross section of the test piece is scanned by a probe transmitting/receiving an ultrasonic wave so that the ultrasonic wave is incident on the T-cross section, and immersion ultrasonic flaw detection is carried out. Then, a bottom face wave intensity distribution of the test piece is found for detecting the isometric crystal existing area.
