PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal type continuously variable transmission capable of preventing a needle bearing for an output side disc from falling without causing lowering of proof stress of an output side disc, etc., and cost reduction by easily forming an oil path for supplying lubricating oil to a ball spline part for an input side disc. SOLUTION: A locking recessed groove 1b is formed on an outer peripheral surface of an input shaft 1. Within the locking recessed groove 1b, a snap ring 21 for preventing the needle bearing 5 between the input shaft 1 and the output side disc 3 from falling is fitted.
