PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To completely contact-bond a steel-pipe sleeve with a bar by the one-time contact-bonding operation of a die, and to form the external shape of the steel-pipe sleeve approximately into a circle. SOLUTION: The bar under the state in which the front end section of the bar 1 is inserted into the steel-pipe sleeve 2 is inserted and placed at a position corresponding to the recessed sections 41 and 51 of the dies 4 and 5. When both dies 4 and 5 are brought near mutually by a hydraulic contact-bonding machine, the steel-pipe sleeve 2 is guided surely into the recessed sections 41 and 51. Accordingly, the steel-pipe sleeve 2 is deformed into an elliptical diameter during a diameter shrinkage. The diameter of the steel-pipe sleeve 2 is shrunk completely and the sleeve 2 is contact-bonded with the bar 1. When the dies 4 and 5 are released, the steel-pipe sleeve 2 contact-bonded with the bar 1 is obtained.
