SACCHARIDE-BINDING PHOSPHINE OXIDE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new phosphine oxide that has the coordinative ability to transition metal and the functions of saccharide (water solubility, biological activity and the like). SOLUTION: A saccharide bearing a carboxy group and phosphine oxide bearing an amino group at the chain terminal as synthetic intermediates are allowed to react with each other whereby phosphine oxides bearing saccharide residual group in the structure is obtained. In an embodiment, a compound having the chemical structure represented by following formula (wherein R is H or acetyl) is obtained.
