A platen cover for a document scanning device or an image forming apparatus of the present invention includes a frame (8) connected to the body the image scanning device or that of the image forming apparatus. The frame (8) is openable away from a glass platen (20) and divided in a direction perpendicular to the opening/closing direction. A pressing portion (9) presses the document laid on the glass platen. Mounting/dismounting members (12,19) allow the pressing portion (9) to be selectively mounted to or dismounted from the frame (8). An elastic member (11) is included in the pressing portion (9) and includes a sheet member (18) mounted thereon configured to contact the document. The elastic member (11) is divided into a plurality of parts (11a,11b).
