PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a caspase inhibitor which brings about therapeutic effect in regions of ischemic diseases and neurodegenerative diseases by suppressing proliferation potency of a brain cell without accompanying cell death of the brain cell and promoting differentiated induction and a pharmaceutical composition and an edible composition utilizing the caspase inhibitor. SOLUTION: This caspase inhibitor is characterized by comprising a sulfoquinovosyldiacylglycerol represented by the formula (I) (wherein R1 and R2 are each >=14C and <=22C aliphatic acid alkyl residue or alkenyl residue having >=0 and <=6 double bonds) as an active ingredient. |
