PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of raising an opening ratio by reducing the area of a drain electrode applying an electric signal to a pixel electrode and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In this liquid crystal display device, the contact hole of a region where the drain electrode of a thin film transistor and the pixel electrode of the pixel area of the display device are electrically connected is formed over the prescribed region of the drain electrode and the prescribed region of the pixel electrode.
