PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an objective assembly for a microscope which can have a large aperture and long focus and obtain high resolution. SOLUTION: The objective assembly 5 is composed of an uninterchangeable lens group 5A, three interchangeable lens groups 5B1 , 5B2 , and 5B3 , etc. The three interchangeable lens groups 5B1 , 5B2 , and 5B3 have specific wavelengths in ranges of 300 to 520, 500 to 620, and 600 to 700 nm, e.g. d rays, C rays, and F rays as their main wavelengths respectively and spherical aberration curves and astigmatism curves of light beams of those main wavelengths nearly match each other. When an image of an object 8 is picked up and observed, the three lens groups 5B1 , 5B2 , and 5B3 are selectively used.
