PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deformation and damage to a pin and a link in a chain belt for a CVT. SOLUTION: This chain belt for the CVT provided with a number of variable pulleys having tapered contact surfaces is provided with the link constituted of a plurality of tension link plates 14 having connection opening holes 11 arranged substantially close to end parts, a plurality of cylindrical bushes 10 inserted into the connection opening holes 11 of the link plate 14 and having lengths at least equal to total thickness of the link, a plurality of cylindrical pins 12 inserted into holes of the bushes 10 and longer than the bushes 10, and a plurality of wear pads 8 positioned along a chain center line, formed into tapered shapes so as to be engaged to the contact surfaces of the pulleys and arranged so as to transmit compressive force to end parts of the bushes 10.
