PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the impact absorbing material, device, and method which has a high impact-absorbing performance and reduces the damage of a subject to be impacted and properly eliminates a rebound phenomenon. SOLUTION: An impact absorbing material 3 consisting of a three-dimensional network structural body capable of having a brittle fracture is housed in a container 2. Various forms 1A to 1G can be considered as the impact absorbing device 1. 1A to 1F are of a square type and the shape 1G is a semi-cylindrical one at its front surface and the rear surface is formed to a square shape. The container 2 comprises an outer frame 2a and lid 2b, and after housing the impact absorbing member 3, the lid 2b is fixed to the top surface of the outer frame 2a with fixing members such as bolts, nut, adhesive or the like (not shown on the drawing). The container 2 is housed by arranging a plurality of rectangular parallelepiped or square impact absorbing members 3a to 3f inside the container 2. Face of slope N of the impact absorbing members 3a to 3f is arranged so as to become perpendicular to the impact direction and each face of slope N is kept into contact with each other.
