PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing extra-fine wire by which kinds of hard extra-fine copper or copper-alloy wire can be prevented. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the extra-fine wire where metal wire is heat treated after wire drawing, the heat treatment is carried out so that the tensile strength and electric conductivity of the metal wire satisfy inequalities 0.95T0 <=T<=1.05T0 and 1.00R0 <R<=1.10R0 (wherein, T0 is tensile strength (MPa) before the heat treatment; T is tensile strength (MPa) after the heat treatment, R0 is electric conductivity (%IACS) before the heat treatment; and R is electric conductivity (%IACS) after the heat treatment).
