PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treating agent for reducing the effect of a herbicide for inhibiting the growth of paddy rice, vegetables or the like without effecting the original effect of the herbicide, and a method for reducing the harmful effect of the herbicide on the paddy rice, vegetables or the like. SOLUTION: This treating agent for reducing the harmful effect of the herbicide on the paddy rice or vegetables is obtained by dispersing activated carbon in water by using a dispersing agent. The method for reducing the harmful effect of the herbicide against the paddy rice or vegetables in treating a field or paddy with the herbicide after planting seedlings to the field or paddy, or planting the seedlings on the field or paddy totally treated with the herbicide without losing the herbicidal effect of the herbicide is provided by planting the seedlings treated with the above treating agent in its root zone on the field or paddy.
