PURPOSE: To efficiently produce a molding material enabling the molding of a lightweight molded product having uniform thickness and desired rigidity by a simple constitution. CONSTITUTION: Choppers 2A, 2B, 2C made stepwise different in the number of cutting blades in the lateral direction thereof and having the same diameter are arranged so as to be integrally rotated at an equal speed for the purpose of cutting reinforcing fibers 1. All of the interval lengths between the cutting blades of each of the choppers are made constant. In place of the choppers, a sprinkler having groove holes housing reinforcing fibers cut into predetermined lengths and having hole widths different in the width direction thereof can be used. An SMC sheet stepwise changed in the length of reinforcing fibers in the lateral direction thereof or continuously and stepwise changed in the filling ratio of the reinforcing fibers in the lateral direction thereof can be easily obtained by a simple apparatus. |
