摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the power consumption equal to or less than that in the conventional chemical treatment and to save energy by making the density of the electrons generated in a gas decomposing device high on the upstream side of a waste gas current and low on the downstream side. SOLUTION: The number of turns of a coil 1 is increased on the upstream side and decreased on the downstream side. The number of turns is set so that the number of the high-energy electrons generated varies with the number of the molecules of NOx or SOx Consequently, the electron density is high on the upstream side and low on the downstream side. Under such conditions, the waste gas contg. a harmful gas such as NOx flows in an annular passage 4 between an inner cylinder 3 and an outer cylinder 2. Meanwhile, a very-short- pulse high voltage is impressed on the coil 1 from a power source, and a streamer discharge is generated. As a result, a great number of high-energy electrons are generated. Since the number of high-energy electrons varies with the number of the molecules of NOx , etc., the oversupply of energy is avoided.</p>
