A colorant of a plant belonging to the family Brassicaceae which has no or significantly reduced smell originating in the Brassicaceae plant; a coloran t preparation containing this colorant; and a process for producing the odorle ss or almost odorless colorant of the Brassicaceae plant as described above. Th is colorant can be prepared by treating an adsorbed extract containing the colorant of the Brassicaceae plant by at least one method selected from amon g adsorption, ion exchange resin-treatment, acid-treatment and membrane separation to thereby give a smell component concentration of 100 ppm or les s in case where the color value E10%1cm is 80.
