A nozzle suitable for washing filters comprises a tubular casing I having a port 2 in its side wall, a tubular liner 12 located in the casing I so that its upper end forms an annular valve seat part of the way across the port, and a plunger 4 biased by a spring into engagement with the annular seat, the end 3 of the casing being connected to a water supply. A projection (5), fig. 4 (not shown) on the plunger extends within the liner and the discharge outlet, which produces a fanshaped discharge, is defined by surfaces (6), (6A) and (6B) and the adjacent upper edge of the liner. The plunger is located in position by cross pins 11 which may be used to raise the plunger for cleaning &c. Excessive water pressure in operation may also raise the plunger against the pressure of the spring. |
