A heat exchanger unit intended for insertion in a conduit 115 adapted to convey a first heat exchange fluid medium, comprises a plurality of tubes 116 of flattened configuration having a long and a short cross-sectional dimension, and a fluid-pervious body 118 surrounding said tubes and metallically bonded thereto, the tubes being so disposed that the distances between corresponding points on the periphery of adjacent tubes measured in the direction of the short cross-sectional dimension of the tubes are substantially equal. The arrangement and mounting of the heat exchanger within the conduit, and its mode of operation is the same as that described with reference to Figs. 6 and 7 of Specification 1,132,074.
