PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control access to data in the same recording medium by a plurality of devices without exerting any adverse influence while acknowledging requests from users to a certain extent. SOLUTION: A card access control part 37 always allows a host device 7 to read a file out of a memory card 5 through a printer 1. The card access control part 37 disallows the host device to write a file to the memory card 5 when some button of a console panel 3 is operated, i.e., when stand-alone printing wherein a JPEG image file is read in from the memory card 5 and printed is performed possibly performed.
