PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery charging method which can surely realize charging control even when a system is being driven. SOLUTION: This potable electronic device comprises a battery 1, a power supply controller 2, a DC power source input circuit 3, a constant current circuit 4, a DC power source generation circuit 5, a voltage-detection circuit 6 and a current-splitting circuit 7. The current-splitting circuit 7 supplies a predetermined constant current to the battery 1 and also supplies a remaining current to the DC power source generation circuit 5. Moreover, when a computer system 10 is driven while a commercial power source is being supplied, the system is driven using the power source split from the current-splitting circuit 7 in place of the power source from the battery. A charge setting section provided to the computer system is a circuit for setting a constant current value to the battery 1, and when quick charging is required, the charging time can be shortened by increasing a current value to be split to the battery 1 in the current-splitting circuit.
