PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a novel hypoglycemic agent reduced in adverse effects. SOLUTION: This morphinan derivative is represented by a compound expressed by the formula. A hypoglycemic agent comprises the aforesaid compound or its pharmacologically allowable acid adduct. It has been discovered that the aforesaid compound has an action for rapidly reducing a raised blood glucose level. Thus, the aforesaid compound is useful as a drug used in curing diabetes as a hypoglycemic agent.
