The sensitivity tester consists of an open cylindrical mouthpiece (1) with inner dimensions allowing visual inspection of the pharynx, a thin guide tube (2) fixed along the inner wall of the mouthpiece and having an articulated end (4) that can be pointed towards the pharynx, and a pipe (9) connected by one end to a compressed gas source and having its other end inserted into the guide tube and fixed in a given position by means of graduations (11) and a fastener (14). The mouthpiece has ribs (6) on its inner end for gripping between the patient's teeth, and the gas source is equipped with a system for measuring the flow of gas, e.g. oxygen, air or carbon dioxide, and a gas humidifier and temperature controller.
