PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for tracking object movement which can handle objects whose initial position is unknown or which is moving with no rest, and restores even if fails to track during process. SOLUTION: Time-series image data inputted from an observation device are stored in an image memory device and processed in parallel. At this time, a body recognition module selects a frame memory according to specific information (SA1), computes an evaluated value of the position attitude of the body from the image data (SA2), and send the data (SA3). A movement tracking module receives the data from the body recognition module (SB1), updates the current frame (SB2), stands by until the image data input ends (SB3), compares the image data with a body model after the image data input ends to find the displacement of the position attitude of the body and its evaluated value (SB4), and updates the mode of the system according to the found evaluated value.
