PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which has a stereoscopic effect, and which is capable of more stereoscopic and deeper display as compared to the conventional planer display, without lowering visibility of the depiction characters and graphics by an LCD which displays operation of equipment, etc., at all. SOLUTION: A plurality of independent protruding condenses elements having transparent property are arrayed on the surface of a display device. The display device is provided with a transmission type display device having a plurality of pixels arrayed at pitches equal to or smaller than the array pitches of the protruding condenser element on the rear surface, and is further provided with an illumination means for carrying out light intake and illumination from the back surface of the transmission type display device. Thereby, the display device which is capable of stereoscopic and deep display is obtained. Moreover, while the light from the back surface of the transmission type display device is shielded for each of a plurality of pixels, a pattern (character) that the stereoscopic effect is given is made to variously change, and the stereoscopic effect can be aesthetically changed.
