摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aromatic polycarbonate which gives an optical disk substrate having an improved static electricity resistance and a good coatability with a colorant; to provide an optical disk substrate and an optical disk prepared by using the same; and a production method for an aromatic polycarbonate. SOLUTION: The polycarbonate is prepared by the transesterification of an aromatic dihydroxy compound and a carbonic diester and has a terminal hydroxyl group content (based on the total hydroxyl group content) of 2-25 mol% and a specific terminal group content (based on the total terminal group content) of 20 mol% or higher. The aromatic polycarbonate provides an optical disk substrate and an optical disk. In the production method for an aromatic polycarbonate, a specific phenol or a specific carbonic diester is added when the intrinsic viscosity [η] of an aromatic polycarbonate polymer is lower than 0.2 dl/g.
