PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device which easily changes a recording condition to record music data or the like. SOLUTION: A CD driving unit 11 has a bank mechanism in which three CDs 2 can be stored. A recording condition table which prescribes recording modes correspondingly to three banks in the bank mechanism is stored in an SRAM 17a of a microcomputer 17. The microcomputer 17 discriminates the bank in the bank mechanism of the CD 2 to be reproduced and refers to the recording condition table in the SRAM 17a to specify the corresponding recording mode. The microcomputer 17 starts reproducing of music data from the object CD 2 and records reproduced music data in an MD 3 in accordance with the specified recording mode.
