PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coin discriminating device capable of surely discriminating coins with a slightly different size. SOLUTION: This coin discriminating device has a main body 12 erectable on its own, a coin insertion slot 16 formed in the main body 12 and for throwing in a coin, and a coin path 36 which is formed inside the main body 12 and is an inclination continuing to the coin insertion slot 16 and on which the coin passes through almost horizontally. A pair of guide parts 34 formed at the edge parts of both sides of the coin path 36 and located at a width slightly larger than the diameter of a prescribed coin, a hole 38 formed at the center of the coin path 36, having a with slightly smaller than the diameter of the prescribed coin and formed slenderly along the coin path 36, and fringe parts 40 where the coin path 36 is cut off and left, at both sides of the hole 38 are provided. A projection 52 for selection projecting toward the coin path 36 is provided over the coin path 36, the point of the projection 52 extending slightly over the coin passing through on the coin path and also toward the center of the coin.
