PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waveform equalizer and a recorded information reproducing device, which improve the SN ratio without causing any jitter in a read signal read from a recording medium. SOLUTION: The waveform equalizer performs waveform equalization of the read signal obtained by reading a signal, which is recorded in a recording medium and is encoded to an RLL(Run Length Limited) code, to obtain an equalized correction read signal and is provided with an amplitude limiting means which limits the amplitude level of the read signal by an amplitude limit value shorter than the amplitude of the read signal corresponding to the shortest recording data but a minimum inversion interval to obtain an amplitude limited read signal and a filter which outputs a signal obtained by filtering processing of the amplitude limited read signal as the equalized correction read signal.
