PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color reproducibility correction device for a projector, which compensates the degradation in color reproducibility of the projector provided with a light control function for a light source to realize satisfactory color reproducibility. SOLUTION: A current detection part 21 and a temperature detection part 22 detect the driving current of a light source 2 and the temperature state of the light source 2 respectively. A microcomputer 10 uses tables and calculation formulas stored in a memory 11 to obtain driving conditions of a cooling part 15 and a display element 6 on the basis of the detection results. Since a change factor of emitted light wavelength characteristics of the light source 2 is detected to be able to drive the display element 6 in the optimum condition, the degradation in color reproducibility of a projected picture is compensated. The wavelength of illuminating light from the light source 2 and chromaticities of a lot of primary color light obtained by resolving illuminating light of the light source 2 are detected and are used to correct the driving condition of the display element 6, and thus reproducibility of the projected picture is improved furthermore.
