PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the installation problem that a condenser must be always installed at a higher position than an evaporator to move a liquid-cooled medium by utilizing gravity effect at a natural circulation type cooling apparatus in the case of air conditioning through the year. SOLUTION: In the cooling apparatus, a compressor, a heat exchanger outside a room, a pressure-reducing apparatus, and a heat exchanger inside a room are connected successively by piping for composing a refrigeration cycle, a bypass circuit for bypassing the pressure-reducing apparatus is provided, and the bypass circuit is provided with a channel-switching valve. In addition, when the temperature of the fresh air becomes lower than a set indoor temperature, the channel-switching valve is opened, and at the same time the rotational speed of the compressor is reduced as compared with a case where the channel- switching valve is closed for operation.
