PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of a liquid crystal display device, to which precharge signals are supplied in advance, prior to writing of analog image signals to data lines. SOLUTION: Capacitors CN are provided respectively between a supply line of vertical clock signals VCK and respective data linesϕDN, so that constant potential precharge signals NRS are supplied to the linesϕDN and the signals VCK are switched over between the supply completion time of the signals NRS and the supply starting time of analog image signals Vid. When the signals VCK are switched, the potential of the linesϕDN is changed by the coupling effect of the capacitors CN, the potential is either increased or decreased, with respect to the potential of the signals NRS, and equivalent action is realized, as in the case of rectangular wave precharge signals being supplied to the linesϕDN. Since a generation circuit for constant potential precharge signals NRS is formed by TFTs with high precision, the circuit is integrally formed on a TFT substrate with respective drive circuits, or the like and the size of the device is reduced.
