PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a simple three-dimensional display of electronic map data. SOLUTION: In the electronic map data, data are prepared to define a closed figure representing roads 1 and 3 and a slope 2. Each data include two dimensional coordinates, representing the apex locations of the closed figure and level information expressing heights. The level information is quantized height information, for example, 'Level 10' is added to a raised highway, regardless of the actual height of the road. Three-dimensional graphic display is conducted by assigning a constant height that is beforehand set based on the level information. Thus, three-dimensional display is realized, based on simple data which accurately reflect the high and the low relationships of the roads. |
