PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved tablet-shaped factor digital device capable of forming a larger and more efficient device by being physically docked with the same device. SOLUTION: One or more sections of a housing on a portable computing device are selectively removed or folded, so that the free edge of a display screen can be exposed as well as electrical connectors and structural connectors. At least two devices are docked by using the exposed electrical connectors and structural connectors so that the free edges of the exposed display screen can be made adjacent. Upon docking, the two devices recognize the new configuration and re-map the desktop area of the display into a single display for the combined device.
