Injection molding of a two-material product uses separate cavities for the injected plastics and rubber, held at different temperatures to ensure a secure bond between them. To mold a product of plastics, together with rubber, the mold has one cavity (9) to take the injected plastics (3), held at a temperature which cools the plastics material. A second cavity (12) takes the rubber (5), held at a different temperature to form a rubber netting. The two cavities are interlinked, and the second cavity is sealed off while the plastics is injected into the first, and the rubber is injected into the second cavity while the injected plastics cools. |
