PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an oxetane compound in a good productivity, and specifically further, a method for producing the oxetane compound for obtaining a 3-alkyl-3-hydroxymethyloxetane and a 3-alkyl-3- chloromethyloxetane in a good efficiency. SOLUTION: This method for producing the oxetane compound comprises the following processes A and B. Process A: a process for reacting a 1,1,1- tris(hydroxymethyl)alkane with hydrogen chloride to produce a 1-(chloromethyl)-1,1-bis(hydroxymethyl)alkane and a 1,1- bis(chloromethyl)-1-(hydroxymethyl)alkane. Process B: a process of reacting the mixture obtained by the process A with an alkali agent to produce the 3-alkyl-3-hydroxymethyloxetane and the 3-alkyl-3-chloromethyloxetane.
