PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved groove shape of a gear pump side plate. SOLUTION: In an external gear pump, first and second grooves M1, M2 are formed into shapes that are simultaneously isolated from a fluid sealing chamber R when mesh teeth g10 to g20 on the distant side of both gears G1, G2 complete meshing. The first groove M1 are formed into a shape isolated from a driven gear side sealing chamber R2 when the driven gear G2 rotates by a specified angle from the minimum volume V2min of the driven gear side sealing chamber R2. The second groove M2 is formed into a shape communicated to a driving gear side sealing chamber R1 almost simultaneously with starting of rotations of the driving gear G1 from the minimum volume V1min of the driving gear side sealing chamber R1.
