PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contour correction circuit that can suppress or eliminate an overshoot caused in a contour part of an image of a television receiver or a personal computer. SOLUTION: Amplitude limit signal generating circuits 6, 13 obtain an amplitude limit signal based on a difference between a signal of a target pixel and a signal of a pixel apart from the target pixel by n (n is an integer of 1 or over) pixels to the right or to the lower side and a difference between the signal of the target pixel and a signal of a pixel apart from the target pixel by n (n is an integer of 1 or over) pixels to the left or to the upper side and an amplitude control circuit 7 limits an absolute value of a high frequency signal extracted from the pixel signal by a high frequency signal extract circuit 5 to be the amplitude limit signal or below.
