PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a decision as to presence or absence of abnormality in a damper provided in the middle of an air duct and to detect the abnormality in its early stage. SOLUTION: The present draft equipment has the damper 6 composed of a rotating shaft and a blade part and provided in the middle of the air duct 1 and a damper control device 9 provided for controlling the operation of the damper, and the quantity of draft is adjusted by adjusting the position of the damper. The damper control device 9 measures beforehand a time for full opening wherein the damper 6 is moved from the position 7 of full closure to the position 8 of full opening and a time for full closure wherein it is moved from the position 8 of full opening to the position 7 of full closure, and compares the time for full opening and the time for full closure with each other. In the case when the values of the time of full opening and that of the full closure are different, the device makes a decision that the abnormality occurs in the damper.
