PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a dynamic range compressing process has the problem point of a false outline nearby an edge and further a dynamic range is compressed too much in an area wherein a signal is small. SOLUTION: The image processor comprises a means for inputting an image Sorg, a means for computing an out-of-focus image Sus having a low frequency component from the inputted image, and a means for computing an image Sproc by compressing the dynamic range of the low signal area of the input image. Those computing means are based upon Sproc=Sorg+G(Sorg, Sus) and G(Sorg, Sus)=A.Sorg+B.Sus+C, where A and C are positive real constants and B is represented by a negative real constant, and the input image Sorg and out-of-focus image Sus are both represented as non-negative pixel values and zero when correction value G(Sorg, Sus) is negative. |
