PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of halation even at the time of adjusting luminance. SOLUTION: Luminance Y0 of an object pixel whose luminance is adjusted according to a luminance adjustment curve so that luminance adjustment quantity ΔYd in non-color can be obtained. A luminance adjustment quantity Td is converted according to the rate of maximum color saturation Smax in the hue of the objective pixel to color saturation S0 of the objective pixel. Luminance adjustment quantity ΔYf obtained by the conversion is added to the luminance of the objective picture. Accordingly the larger the color saturation of the objective pixel, the smaller the adjustment quantity of the luminance is. Thus, it is possible to prevent the adjusted luminance from coming out of a color reproduction area. |
