PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low cost household electric control system capable of constituting a home server used when a household electric product is remotely controlled via a line network by a terminal. SOLUTION: A method for controlling the household electric product by the terminal such as a portable telephone 24, managing terminal 30 or the like comprises the steps of storing a maker's name of the product 32 to be controlled and a format of a signal suitable for controlling the product 32 in a table (user table 18 and a command conversion table 20) corresponding to user intrinsic information of the product 32, receiving a control signal of the product 32 in which the information is added from the terminal by a main processing unit 14, and converting the control signal received from the terminal according to the format corresponded to the user intrinsic information coincident when the intrinsic information of the received control signal coincides with the user intrinsic information stored in the table.
