摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability and running speed of a magnetic recording medium of a metal magnetic thin film type. SOLUTION: In the magnetic recording medium 10 constructed by successively forming a magnetic layer 2 composed of a ferromagnetic metal thin film and a carbon protective film 3 on a nonmagnetic supporting body 1, the surface of the carbon protective layer 3 is plasma treated and the protective layer 3 retains a lubricant formed by combining an ester compound of perfluoropolyether having a terminal hydroxyl group with a long chain carboxylic acid and an alkyl ester of a partially fluorinated carboxylic acid.
