PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion cycle spark ignition type internal combustion engine, having at least one ignition device per cylinder and at least one piston having a recessed part in a piston head, capable of providing the best high-speed combustion in a combustion chamber. SOLUTION: The spark ignition type internal combustion engine 1 is disclosed. At least one ignition device 14 is provided in each cylinder 2. The piston 4 has a recessed part 8 in the piston head. The recessed part 8 is heart shaped and has only one axis of symmetry 10.
