PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition having excellent adhesion to various substrates, and capable of providing a coated film having excellent properties such as water resistance and scratch resistance, and further to provide a coated article having the coating composition applied thereon. SOLUTION: This coating composition contains an acrylic resin having a hydroxyl group and an epoxy group on a side chain, and an imidazole compound having at least one kind of a functional group selected from a carboxyl group, a thiocarboxyl group, a hydroxyl group, a formyl group, an alkyl group, an allyl group and an alkoxysilane group, and an imidazole group in one molecule. The coated article is obtained by applying the coating composition to the article.
