<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymer mainly consisting of an acrylic polymer which gives an improved elastic coating, a cauking agent, a sealant, a fabric treatment agent, or a pressure sensitive adhesive. SOLUTION: The polymer has a glass transition temperature, (Tg), of-90-20 deg.C. An aqueous composition containing this polymer is obtained by carrying out a free-radical polymerization of an ethlenically unsaturated nonionic acrylic monomer and an ethlenically unsaturated acid monomer in the presence of 0.01-0.099 wt.% based on the total weight of the polymer, of a t- alkylhydroperoxide, or the like, firstly until 90-99.7 wt.%, based on the total weight of the polymer, of the monomers are polymerized and then until at least a half of the remaining monomer is polymerized.</p> |
