摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict mixing of air in the fuel in a return passage. SOLUTION: Excessive fuel in injectors 11, 12, 13, and 14 is returned through return passages 21, 22, 23, and 24 extended from the injectors. Cross sectional area of the return passages is varied in accordance with fuel flow to flow in the return passages 21, 22, 23, and 24. For details, the cross sectional area of the return passages 21, 22, 23, and 24 is reduced as the fuel flow to flow in the return passages 21, 22, 23, and 24 is reduced. In case of a serial arrangement of the return passages 21, 22, 23, and 24 extended from the injectors 11, 12, 13, and 14, the cross sectional area of the return passage on the upstream side is set to be smaller than the cross sectional area of the return passage on the downstream side. For details, the cross sectional area of the return passage is reduced as it goes upstream.
