PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader that can reduce torque of a closely contacted rotating body that is placed opposite to an image read means via an original platen glass inbetween and carrying a sheet original while closely contacting the sheet original onto the original platen glass and prevent an unpleasant sound due to friction vibration caused between the closely contacted rotating body and the original platen glass and blurring of a read image or the like without increasing the size and cost of the reader and to provide an image forming device. SOLUTION: The image reader is characterized in that first and second close contact rollers 12, 13 that are arranged opposed to a CIS(contact image sensor) 5 with an original platen glass 3 inbetween and carrying an original D while closely contacting onto the original platen glass 3, are placed side by side.
