PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make data commonly usable between a main frame and an open system. SOLUTION: A disk controller 80 is connected through an SCSI interface 61 to a CPU 10 to be controlled by a UNIX (registered trademark) operating system 40, and connected through a channel interface 71 to CPU 11 so as to be controlled by a VOS3 operating system 50. The CPU 10 is provided with a CKD record access library 35 and a VSAM access library 30. Thus, it is possible for the CPU 11 to access VSAM records stored in a CKD format in the disk controller 80 in an FBA format, and to access an application program 20 of the CPU 10 as the VSAM records based on the VSAM control information.
