Heading C2C. o-Anilino-phenylacetic acid derivatives of the general formula wherein R 1 and R 2 are each a C 1-4 alkyl or C 1-4 alkoxy group or a fluorine, chlorine or bromine atom; R 3 is hydrogen or is defined as R 1 and R 2 ; R 4 is hydrogen, a C 1-4 alkyl or C 1-4 alkoxy group, a fluorine, chlorine or bromine atom or the trifluoromethyl group; and R 5 is hydrogen or a C 1-4 alkyl group, are prepared by heating an o-anilino-acetophenone of the general formula with sulphur and morpholine according to the Willgerodt-Kindler method and hydrolysing the resulting 4 - [(o - anilinophenyl) - thioacetyl]- morpholine of the general formula o-Anilino-acetophenones of the second general formula above are prepared by reacting (ethoxymagnesium)-malonic acid diethyl ester with an appropriately substituted N-phenyl-anthranilic acid chloride in absolute ethanol and heating the resulting substituted (N-phenyl-anthraniloyl)-malonic acid diethyl ester in an acidic medium.</p> |
