A tape applicator for applying adhesive tape to a surface comprises a frame 14 mounted for adjustable sliding movement by means of guide 15 on rail 16, using hand wheel 20. A plate 21 fixed to guide 15 carries a pivoted arm 23 to the free end of which is fixed spindle 24 on which is journalled free-running roller 25, which is heated at the periphery by suitable means. This may comprise element 27, supplied by power cable 30, connector 31, brushes 32 and contact rings 33. Roller 25 may be arranged to rest on a surface 35 which is moved past the roller, the pressure on which is adjusted by counterweight 37. A length of hot melt adhesive tape 10 is fed from a source so that it is in contact with the heated surface, superficially melted and thence applied to surface 35. |
