Pipe coupling has coupling bodies (6, 6') and an intermediate housing (3). The coupling bodies are symmetrical about a vertical axis passing through a stop (4) that separates the two pipes (1, 2) being joined together. Each coupling body comprises compression rings (17.1, 17.2; 17.1', 17.2') that act on the outer surfaces of the coupling bodies so that the toothed inner sealing surfaces (11.1, 11.2; 11.1', 11.2') provide an effective sealed coupling.
